I am from tomato needles and sewn clothes
      From crooked fingers and patched holes.
 I am from rejected blood and dry eyes
      From homemade tortillas and best advice.

I am from black cats and comic books
      From photo clean ups and strange looks
I am from pink cement and water in oil
       From surprise haircuts and fertile soil.

I am from "He watches over you" and snow white
       From singing Mariachis and not right.
 I am from honey combs in small aisles
       From green eyes and warm smiles.
